Headies Awards: The 17th Edition

The Headies Awards, Originally known as the " Hip Hop World Awards, started in 2006 at the MUSON center, Onikan, Lagos Nigeria. Since then, the event has been hosted in different locations in Lagos and only the 2009 edition was hosted outside Lagos, Abuja precisely. The 2022 and 2023 editions were held in the United States of America for global recognition. That was the 15th and 16th edition of the event. 

The 17th edition was held at the Landmark Events Center on Sunday April 27th, 2025. The event was hosted by Nollywood actress Nancy Isime. The first time to be hosted by a female. The achievements at the Headies Awards 2025  reflect the continued dynamism, innovation, and global influence of #NigerianMusic. The awards not only celebrated the artistic excellence of Nigerian musicians but also reinforced the Country's position as a powerhouse in the African and global music Landscape. The success of Nigerian artists across various genres and categories signifies a vibrant and evolving music industry that continues to captivate audiences Worldwide. 

The Headies Awards 2025, Odumodu crowned the highly coveted "Next Rated Award" of the year, signifies the bright future of the Nigerian music and recognizing emerging artists who are expected to make significant impact in the music industry.
Chike's song "Egwu" featuring the late Mohbad, won Viewers Choice Award and Best Music Video Award of the year.
While, the late Mohbad also won Best Street - Hip Artiste for his song "Ask About Me". 
Rema's album "Heis" received the Album of the Year Award.
Furthermore, Davido was crowned Digital Artiste of the year and Artiste of the year Awards.
Asake's "Lonely at the top" won Song of the year.
Nevertheless, Tems won Best Recording of the year for "Burning" and Best Collaboration for "Fountains" with Drake.
Ayra Starr received Best Female Artiste of the year Award.
Lojay won Best Vocal Male Performance for "Billions".
Liya won Best Vocal Female Performance for " I'm Done".
Zerry DL won Rookie of the year.
London emerged as Producer of the year for "Ozeba".
Shallipopi featuring Odumodublvck won Best Rap Single for "Cast".
While Flavour's "Big Baller" won Afrobeats Single of the year.
Mercy Chinwo's "You Do This One" won Best Inspirational Single of the year.
Juma Jux(Tanzania) won Best East African Artiste.
Himra(Ivory Coast) won Best West African Artiste.
Spooking(Algeria) won Best North African Artiste.
And, Titom(South Africa) won the Best Southern African Artiste.
A Tribe Called Judah won Best Movie Soundtrack of the year. 

The Headies Awards continues to play significant role in recognizing and celebrating the talent and hard work within the Nigerian music scene, contributing to it's growth and global recognition.
